I really can’t tel you all the ins and outs of how the main character got into what he was doing but I was entertained reading this. The storytelling is par excellence, with a character that you begin to feel for, much like the first John Wick movie. In the first volume, we meet Wen on his turf - a well-meaning man who seems to be just getting by in life. You can only guess where the whole story is going, which is good and exciting, but i hope the next issue is going to give some conclusion.This might not be doing anything exactly brand new – again, it's kind of hard to say for sure – but it is doing it in a calm way that heightens the drama when it happens, and in a way that proves action gives character where text often fails to. I’m really enjoying how this book is set out with the multiple panels and the reserved use of dialogue for the protagonist, Sonny. The way action is depicted feels kinetic and believable, and the various designs of the characters introduced so far appear real and individual. You do get glimpses of the larger storyline, though what little I saw in this book wasn’t that impressive.
