About this deal

Training for marathons and triathlons when my kids were very young, representing Scotland in high school in running and entering the workplace after more than a decade of being at home with the kids. She also is a hypocrite as she tells Patience to tell the class about her life, but when Patience mentions that at her home she owns a big field and has several dogs and three horses she says Patience is boastful.

Though she rarely left London, she was propelled on a journey into the far reaches of the human heart, a journey marked by James' departures and those of her six children, whom she lost one by one. Above all, we learn of the deep love the Cooks had for each other, and the heartache that Elizabeth Cook endured as her husband was gone for sometimes years without word.

From her home in London, Elizabeth Cook travels with her famous husband in her thoughts, imagining the exotic new people and places Captain Cook was discovering. Skills such as decision-making, organisation, communication and resilience are built on the courts and fields. I get to be involved with netball, track and field, swimming, cross country, laser run (watch this space) to name a few and get to witness first-hand the multitude of benefits that team and individual sports have for our pupils.

Like everyone else my age and from this part of the world, it was at the berries, aged five – I thought I was going to be rich but it turns out that I helped pick them for five minutes and then decided I preferred to play instead. After their marriage in 1762, they lived first at Shadwell before moving to Mile End, which was quieter and not so close to the busy riverside. She discovered how they survived on long sea journeys and learned about the exotic foods they consumed in distant lands. I soon realised it wasn’t for me and, with the idea of becoming a teacher growing in my mind, I left to do a postgraduate degree in Education aged 25.

We nurture our young people to reflect these values by promoting co-operation and support for everyone in our community and developing respect and awareness of others and their needs. I like using social studies and RME for group-based project work where I find out what the pupils want to learn and then support them as they work independently towards their goals. Two entered the Royal Navy, but did not survive their mother, while the third died of a fever while a student at Cambridge. Really proud moments come in class or during other parts of our school day when I get to witness ‘penny dropping’ moments, like when a pupil achieves something they weren’t sure they could or I notice a quiet act of kindness between children. She continued to receive relatives and friends who came to admire the many relics and maps which filled the house, but apparently destroyed any letters from Cook to her.I joined the Field Court Infant Academy team in September 2017, having previously worked as a Lecturer at Hartpury College for 11 years. We learn about things like the change of calendar in 1752, life in 18th century London, docks, ale houses, war, country fairs, charting coastlines, estimating longitude, and preparation for long sea voyages.
