I had tossed the manila folder full of clippings on the passenger seat but I really didn’t need to look at them. you are never disappointed' Guardian; 'Will keep you awake until the last page has been turned' Daily Mail" --This text refers to an alternate kindle_edition edition. The writing style puts in enjoyable humor in serious situations, but it's mainly kept to the point and focused on the story at hand. I’ve lived in trailers most of my life, but lately they’ve been getting too elaborate for my taste, so now I live in one room, a "bachelorette.

Grafton said that the series would end with "Z" Is for Zero, but she died before she could begin writing it. Perhaps her darkest and most chilling novel, it features a remorseless serial killer who leaves no trace of his crimes. The Kinsey Millhone stories, with one exception, appeared in magazines and mystery anthologies between 1986 and 1991. She uses a small corner of a suite of offices owned by California Fidelity Insurance Company; they give her the use of the space in exchange for occasional investigation. stars to A is for Alibi by Sue Grafton, the first book in the Kinsey Millhone private investigator cozy mystery series.

Featuring sleuth Kinsey Millhone, it is set in the southern California city of Santa Teresa, the nom de plume for Santa Barbara. A is for Alibi joins her with two mysterious marriages behind her and as she is asked by a convicted murderess to investigate her husband's death - and find the real killer. Millhone is a very believable character, a "what you see is what you get" kind of girl, lives simply and is far from perfect. Kinsey is a tough, twice-divorced, former cop with her own detective agency situated adjacent to an insurance company in Santa Teresa, California. There are no cell phones in this story; instead, Kinsey Millhone is always on the hunt for a public pay phone.

Plenty of people in the picturesque town of Santa Teresa, California, wanted Laurence Fife, a ruthless divorce attorney, dead. Kinsey Millhone, an average detective with a conscience and a relaxed lifestyle, lands a whopper of a case to open this first of many, many books. She created the popular Kinsey Millhone series, with each book titled after a letter of the alphabet. I was okay with the idea that this was written in the 1980's, so I expected all of the lack of civilization that I have no idea how we lived without.

Kinsey and Me (2013) – a collection of nine Kinsey Millhone short stories along with 12 other short stories about Grafton's own mother. A lot of skimming is necessary when reading about the characteristics of a rooftop or which streets she passed while jogging.

You kill people you hate or you kill in rage or you kill to get even, but you don’t kill someone you’re indifferent to. It was the silly season and a Monday at that, and Kinsey Millhone was bogged down in a preliminary report on a fire claim. Avem de-a face cu un romant politist agreabil, desi probabil ca nu cel mai bun pe care il veti citi, insa destul de bine condus si echilibrat.

Although I like pretty much anything with a bit of mystery, I really like those strong, female heroines like VI Warshawski and Temperance Brennan, so I don't quite know why it's taken me this long to discover Sue Grafton's detective Kinsey Millhone. Back in California, Kinsey is mystified that Nikki's son, Colin, recognizes Laurence's first wife, Gwen, in a photograph. Divorced and eager to help solve crimes for the underdog, even if she doesn't go to those cases intentionally, her thorough skills show a mystery where the clues are solved by actual logical work and not just nifty clue falling into her lap like most mysteries do. We get an intimate look into her mind as she interviews the suspects and slowly unravels the mystery.

Kinsey doesn't really surface any evidence, nor does she glean anything really important from all her interviews. She's a twice-divorced loner with few personal possessions and fewer personal attachments but with a soft spot for underdogs and lost causes. Kinsey must pursue a trail that's eight years old: one that leads from a young boy, born deaf, whose memory cannot be trusted; to a lawyer defensively loyal to his dead partner - and disarmingly attractive to Millhone; to a not-so-young secretary with too high a salary for far too few skills.
