About this deal

The second, in Bosnia, Curtis found himself working closely with all factions and leading a protection team guarding visiting heads of state.

Michael Jones is a fellow of the Royal Historical Society, a member of the British Commission for Military History and the author of twelve books ranging from the Middle Ages to the Second World War. It began on Friday 2 April 1982 when Argentina invaded and occupied the Falkland Islands (and, the following day, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands) in an attempt to establish the sovereignty it had long claimed over them. Mike Norman and Michael Jones’s dramatic account draws upon Norman’s vivid recollections, the log book and action reports of the defence of Government House and Stanley, the testimony of Marines under Mike Norman’s command and recently released government archives.

Bramley followed up this most famous of books in 2009 with his follow-on “Two sides of Hell” which involved contributions from veterans of both sides of the conflict, but which was eternally overshadowed by his original book.

With the UN seeking a diplomatic solution, the British launched risky amphibious landings at San Carlos, Goose Green and Bluff Cove. The outcome there was to set the tone for the remainder of the war, affect international opinion, and morale and determination of both armies.Daniel Kon’s book, “Los Chicos de la Guerra” (The boys of the war) was billed as the book that even the junta couldn’t ban, and became over time the mainstay of our understanding of the true face of the war from the Argentine perspective.
