Die Geschehnisse schicken Garro und die Death Guards in das Isstvan-System, das wir aus dem vorhergehenden Band schon kennen. Can Garro and his men survive the depredations of Chaos and get his warning to the Emperor before Horus's plans reach fruition? This is written from a different perspective this time; that being from Battle Captain Nathaniel Garro of the 7th Company from the Death Guard.

This book is bloody brilliant and seriously one of Swallows crowning achievements of his great, if vacillating in quality, work with Black Library.

The Flight of the Eisenstein is a novel by James Swallow and the fourth book in The Horus Heresy series. This particular instalment follows the flight of Nathaniel Garro, a Captain in the Death Guard Legion from the betrayal of the Isstvan III Virus-Bombing in an attempt to bring warning of Horus's treachery to the Emperor. It was also the next volume to be released in hardcover, after Horus Rising, False Gods, Galaxy in Flames and Angel Exterminatus.

Brought before Malcador the Sigillite Garro, Iacton Qruze and a Sister of Silence commander are given a speech implying that they become the first of the Inquisition. The Eisenstein prepares to jump to the Warp but this is noticed by the Terminus Est, ship of Death Guard First Captain Calas Typhon who is one of the traitor leaders. But much like a James Bond movie, the fun isn't so much if the good guys will win but instead how they will win. Garro was a stead fast character, and I really took a liking to him pretty immediately, and I really enjoyed his group of battle-brothers. Overall I enjoyed this book a great deal, from the character interactions to the descriptions of the action, and it left me really wanting to read more of Swallow's Garro. Some of the character renditions weren't particularly great either, like the primearchs and the saint.
