About this deal
The only thing was with Remi, Brick couldn’t help himself with either wanting her so badly that he tried to distance himself from her , he felt like his world was turned upside, and he also craved her attention. Remi has a friend, Aubrey, Remi tells Brick she thinks Spencer and Aubrey like each other when they break up at 16. i was screaming, crying, shaking, yelling, laughing, crying, and panting throughout this whole book. So after he screws her into the ground, and walks out of her house telling her that they are over, leaving her naked and on the floor. I had to edit my original thoughts, I didn't even read the blurb before getting this because this is an author I sorta trusted.
For all the times, Brick and Remi were tempted to take their attraction to the next step, Brick was the one who always hesitated because, one, he felt like he couldn’t be the person Remi wanted to be (Brick’s words), and in Brick’s mind the fact that Remi was his brother’s high school sweetheart, Ex wife’s best friend, and boss’s daughter, he felt like it would have been over complicated with Remi. This is the hottest book I've read from this author to date and honestly, probably one of the hottest books I have ever read. But, baby, when we have our clothes on and we’re out in public, if you started playing submissive with me, I’d lose my damn mind. He rejected her again and again because he was a big chickenshit, or because he was doing "the right thing" by holding himself to some impossible standard that no one else would. Not when the man who broke her teenage heart into splinters keeps showing up at her parents’ dinner table.Overall, I thought the plot was interesting, Remi was a talented and successful artist but her family still thought she was struggling to make a name for herself. When things finally come together for them, get ready to have a man who knows what he wants and a woman willing to give him everything. I love her fully developed and exciting stories, clever writing, fun characters, the slow burn, and the hot and steamy parts. There is something in the past, maybe not even of their doing that has caused this feeling of not being able to fully love the other person. From the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of Things We Never Got Over You don't fall for your brother's high school sweetheart, your boss's daughter, or your ex-wife's best friend.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved Brick being a grumpy, possessive, overprotective man, but sometimes he needed to cool off since Remi felt he was judging her. Also the things that Remi would say made me cry from laughter, like to be in her mind would be amazing. Had to roll my eyes at the Senator doing his own evil work but again this is a work of fiction and we all like a HEA so by him sending himself and not just sending “henchmen”, we could reach a happy conclusion faster.Remi and Brick’s attraction/ crush they had for one another wasn’t just something out of the blue, it was something that was present even back when Remi was in high school. Side characters never received any page time because, after 15 years of pining after each other, the few months this book takes place in is mostly page after page of unnecessary sex scenes over and over.
The digital release is entitled Aphoria V2, and contains the original twelve tracks and four live tracks. Not to mention, his frequent sporting of a steel rod in his pants at the slightest provocation in those situations between them. After about the 3rd one, I skipped every single sex scene cause I just didn’t care anymore 😂 I wanted to see the angst, hear their conversations, I wanted to read more about her painting because it was so interesting, but absolutely everything turned into sex when they were alone together they must have been exhausted! And of course you have the whole scary villain character and story line Remi is all secretive about. I’ll slap that sweet little ass of yours so hard, every man on this island will hear you scream my name and know you belong to me.In a way, there was a sense of mystery, a bit of that “edge of your seat” feeling trying to figure out what Remi was hiding, and most importantly, what happened? Remi was fine in the beginning -- I thought she was an independent and spunky woman, but it didn't take long before she was sitting back and letting Brick take care of everything because only he could save everyone. The setting of Mackinac Island, Brick and Remi’s second chance at love, I truly enjoyed all of the characters and the story. Because I think she’s just using me for sex and maybe, possibly, she might not want to settle down with me but also I’ve never asked her if she would.
