Sometimes it’s just too overwhelm to look at the whole project - we wonder how on earth we’ll ever get it done and end up talking ourselves out of it. All you really need is the next action, so just focus on the next thing needed to move that project forward.
I love getting new ideas, but I’m the first to admit that I can end up getting completely overtaken by a wave of excitement that before I know it, my knickers are in a right twist. And these big bites were hard for me to get my head around, and the fear of the unknown would increase my inertia. At some point fear would set in and the adrenaline would get me going and I would start work furiously. One of the biggest mistakes we make when it comes to our attention span is to push too far beyond our cognitive capabilities. One focused hour a day of uninterrupted creation time will do far more for you than 6 hours a day of unfocused and perpetually interrupted creation time. I now believe that making progress on anxiety comes down to, getting comfortable outside your comfort zone, and learning anxiety reduction methods that suit you. Personally, if I saw you yesterday and you’re coming to my house again today, I think a phone conversation is unnecessary. I prefer fidgeting or focusing all my attention on a single object though with this one people think I'm spacing out when in reality I'm pretty sure it's meditation.There’s something about knowing that someone else is working really hard too that keeps you accountable, makes it easier, and makes you less likely to procrastinate or cheat! Of course, work can be hugely fun, especially if we get into a flow state where we just get lost in it, but sometimes it doesn’t always feel that way. Rest first, reward yourself first and then get really disciplined, choose something else on this list then start. Sometimes when we’re tackling a huge to-do list or something we just can’t be bothered to do, the only thing to do it set a timer and make yourself do it in a timed environment.
