About this deal

The “D” batteries are large and comparatively expensive too, so changing them regularly should be budgeted for. Some of our vintage or prior versions of toy and game instructions may be more difficult to decipher or have less clarity. Just like other flywheel blasters, to fire, you spin up the flywheels, pull the trigger and away you go.

If you fire it flat, the range is still around 50ft/15m, and they are much more predictable, which means the useful range is better than pretty much any other unmodified blaster. However, the Hyperfire doesn’t initially cost as much as you might expect, considering it’s the fastest-firing NERF yet – and the foam-fizzing fun it promises will make that extra expense seem worthwhile. I’m glad they ship it with a 25 short drum, as a blaster that can fire this fast needs all that and more…. I found it was jamming way too often compared to other full-auto blasters – my thumb got very sore priming my Hammershot as I fiddled around trying to get it unjammed on numerous occasions.

If you need some covering fire, this is a blaster that will spray a lot of foam, very quickly and with the rifling effect of spinning the dart as it fires, the accuracy is a step up too. The only problem is that it does jam, especially if your darts are a little worn, and it got worse as the batteries got older.Your blaster arrives in a box which is large enough for storage afterwards, there's a pull out drawer and it takes very little time to remove. Personalised advertising may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of information under California and other state privacy laws, and you may have a right to opt out.

It also comes with a 25 dart drum, which you will need as you can fire up to five darts per second straight out of the box. Blaster was abit dirty though, due to sticky fingers and pen marks but nothing that 20 minuets of scrubbing can solve. So while the Hyperfire’s technical performance is excellent, I found the practicalities let it down. One of the biggest disappointments my kids have faced over the years with toys, has been opening a box to find hardly anything inside.Hasbro claims it can manage up to five shots per second on fresh batteries, and has a maximum range of 27m. When the trigger is pulled, the motorized conveyor belt spins and passes the darts to the flywheels, which fling them out. The age range is appropriate though, these darts don't half sting when they hit, and 6 year olds as a rule simply don't have the ability to be safe or accurate.
