About this deal

Or maybe they should just rely on the abilities of the crewmembers who rank lower to get a guaranteed reward? Alongside any dusk abilities, players will choose a loot token from the matching day on the board too, activating any associated actions with these. Like the Automa abilities, the loot tokens will generally give Automa a lot of money (not as much on the stormy side) as it will always choose the money option (rather than saving a character with a hook or discarding a character with a saber). Then there’s the Automa/Pilferer deck, where you reveal six cards from the deck and you take the matching six cards from your hand (like in a regular game).

Hutter and Morten Monrad Pedersen at the Automa Factory because spoiler alert: the solo mode that is featured in Libertalia: Winds of Galecrest is bloody amazing! With the basics mastered, the strategy of optimising when to play cards from your hand and how best to utilise them, really comes to the fore.Few other games play five and six players with as little downtime as Libertalia: Winds of Galecrest outside of the party genre. I learned from Azul that pulling chunking, colorful bakelite tokens out of the bag is a delightful experience, so that’s exactly the material and size we used for loot tokens in Libertalia: Winds of Galecrest. The original Libertalia board game was published 10 years ago (2012) and now there’s a new ship on the seas (or in the sky – as is the case with the new theme).

I am however a huge supporter of the decision to bring artist Lamaro Smith on board this project to add his visual flair to Libertalia: Winds of Galecrest.

There’s pushing and shoving, trying to be first in the line so that you can be the first to take your daytime action, especially if you have a card that affects the loot available. With 40 character cards, any combination is going to have a variety of possibilities that are also affected by which loot tokens are present.

While the general game play of Libertalia: Winds of Galecrest is very straightforward to understand, there are a lot of nuances in the game that makes it a game best suited for teenagers and above. I have looked around at various places where I thought I might be able to get something that would work here, but so far no luck.

It has a dusk ability where the player who played it may challenge another player for their loot tokens. Dized also offers interactive play-along Tutorials which allow you to learn new games while you play!
