About this deal

For a man who seldom spoke, in "A Life, In His Own Words", Freddie says it all: “There are times when I wake up and I think, “My God! Some of the content may be a little vague to those who aren't huge Queen/Freddie Mercury fans who have a solid knowledge of the bands' history. I would never believe that a book would contain his actual words if it was filled with details of his sexlife or his private life.

A moving, witty, often irreverent collection of quotes (or interview transcript) from the man himself, covering an extraordinary life, meticulously edited together by Queen’s long time archivists, with a Foreword by Freddie's mum.

It definitely took me out of the moment of reading to realize things like that, which I believe is more of an editing problem than anything else.It was an easy read though, and I found it extremely interesting to read something from Freddie Mercury's own point of view. Another thing I love is the constant name-dropping (cue fan-girling when Phil Collins is mentioned) and the direct references to songs (cue internal CD player).

US, UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Japan, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, India and Australia. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.Freddie Mercury: A Life, In His Own Words, is a book compiled and edited by official Queen archivist Greg Brooks and Queen visuals producer Simon Lupton.

In 2006, Time Asia named him as one of the most influential Asian heroes of the past 60 years, and he continues to be cited as one of the greatest singers in the history of popular music. That being said, I really did enjoy just reading his words and thoughts brought out in such a manner. What Greg and Simon have done is meticulously put together quotes from Freddie throughout his career and shaped them into cohesive chapters, so the book reads almost like an autobiography. What I did experience was that I was actually hearing Freddie saying the words as I read them, which was bizarre, delightful and heart-rending all at the same time.
